Are you in need of a therapeutic massage in Sacramento CA?

Do your muscles ache from an injury? Do you suffer from muscle spasms, tension headaches or painful knots? Let us here at Progressive Chiropractic in Sacramento CA help you today.

When a patient comes to our office with symptoms like headaches, neck/upper back tightness, hip soreness, carpal tunnel syndrome, sciatica, shoulder pain (rotator cuff), plantar fasciitis or tennis elbow; they usually have one thing in common: Short, tight , ropey overused muscles. This is usually caused when the muscle is slightly injured by some type of trauma or by repetitive motion such as extended computer work.

When a muscle is overworked, it stays “on” all the time. It’s like a light bulb that stays on even when you switch it off. It is continuously contracted and working even when it should be at rest. Over time the body handles this situation by laying down a less elastic, second grade, poorly vascularized type of tissue called scar. Scar tissue or “adhesions” form within damaged overworked muscles or wherever damage and inflammation have occurred. Scar tissue prevents fluid motion of muscles, tendons, and ligaments and produces pain. Left untreated, it can prevent proper motion of the spinal joints causing abnormal wear and tear and premature arthritis.

GRASTON

[This remarkable procedure allows us to detect and treat areas of scar tissue or “adhesions” within muscles tendons and ligaments that can reduce our range of motion and cause pain.]

[Graston is an advanced form of soft tissue treatment that uses 6 specially designed stainless steel instruments to treat/ remove “adhesions” within overused muscles , tendons or nerves. This remarkable procedure

“What is an ADHESION”??

Think of an adhesion as a “patch “ the body lays down; either as a result of trauma or from repetitive overuse to a muscle such as long periods of time working at a computer.

In the healing process, our body attempts to repair those areas by creating “scar tissue;”

Much like the scar that forms on the skin when you have scraped or banged your knee.

Graston Technique allows us to better detect these areas because it uses a stainless steel instrument that glides along the injured tissue with the right amount of pressure to detect just where the scar tissue is located. When these “knots” or bands of scar tissue are encountered both the clinician and patient sense a restriction; almost like a “speed bump.”

The benefit of the Graston Technique is in the improvement that takes place over a short period of time when combined stretching and strength exercises.

Graston has been effective in the treatment of:

  • Achilles tendonitis
  • Rotator Cuff tendonitis
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Cervical Sprain/Strain
